Daycare Deadline This Fall? You’ve Got Time.

If you’ve been low-level panicking about potty training before daycare or preschool starts in the fall… take a deep breath for a minute ❤️

A lot of parents picture their toddler needing to walk into school fully independent, never having accidents again, perfectly wiping, perfectly initiating, perfectly everything.

But most daycares are not expecting perfection. Usually, they’re looking for toddlers who:

  • will participate in the potty routine

  • are mostly staying dry

  • are learning the skill

Accidents are still incredibly normal at this age, especially during exciting play, transitions, growth spurts, illness, and big routine changes (like starting a new classroom in daycare).

And honestly, sometimes the deadline feels scarier in our head than it actually is. If you’re unsure what your daycare expects, ask them directly. A lot of parents are pleasantly surprised to learn the expectations are way more flexible than they thought.

The other thing I really want parents to know is this:
While true consistency and independence develop over weeks and months… most toddlers make BIG progress in the first 1–3 weeks once they start learning.

So if you have a daycare deadline in the fall, you probably don’t need to spend your entire summer spiraling and stressing about getting it all perfectly done immediately. There’s still time.

Less pressure, more progress ❤️
